Tondo: OPENING SOON

This exhibition marks a significant evolution in Rob and Nick Carter’s practice, presenting an entirely new body of work, for the first time including hand-made works on paper and canvas.

Tondo showcases the Carters’ continued fascination with colour, repetition, and perception, reimagined through a wide range of materials including oil paint, acrylic, coloured pencil, marker, charcoal, crayon, and fluorescent spray paint, oil pastel. These works are the result of a more tactile, process-driven approach, offering an intimate counterpoint to their earlier cibachrome Light Paintings.

The exhibition also includes a selection of works created using robotic light painting, luminograms, colour-changing LED lightboxes, and AI-generated compositions — each medium offering a unique lens through which to view the iconic concentric Spectrum Circle form.

With sizes ranging from 21 to 48 inches, the circular works draw viewers
into a meditative rhythm of colour and form. This new chapter builds on
more than two decades of exploration — shifting the Spectrum Circle from its original photographic origins to a diverse and highly personal material language.
